Areas of application of real-time 3D display
A real-time 3D product presentation can be implemented for a wide variety of application scenarios:
• Product presentation integrated into HTML page (3D image)
• Product configurator integrated into HTML page
• Stand-alone product configurator in pop-up window
• Configurator/viewer as Windows or macOS application
• Configurator/viewer with “Looking Glass” 3D displayy
All variants can be connected to your existing server applications (online catalogs or store systems).
Product display integrated into HTML page (3D image
With the real-time 3D display of an article, the 3D image is created using Javascript and drawn in a “canvas” container of the browser. This canvas container behaves like any other product image on a website. The 3D image can therefore simply be embedded as another product photo in an image gallery.
In addition, the 3D image is interactive thanks to the integrated buttons - the visitor can rotate, move and zoom in and out of the article in the 3D image:

Product configurator integrated into HTML page
If you have configurable articles in your range, there are usually already HTML operating elements that can be used to set the product parameters on the article page: Drop-down lists for material selection, input fields or sliders for dimensions, radio buttons for item options, etc.
If you click on the "CONFIGURE TABLE TOP" or "CONFIGURE FRAME" buttons at the top, the corresponding setting options are displayed. These control elements are regular HTML input elements, as used on every store page.
The 3D display above reads the set values of the control elements - no changes need to be made to the HTML code of the control elements themselves in order to integrate the 3D display on a product page. The Javascript code monitors the values of the control elements and thus shows a live view of each configuration step.
Stand-alone product configurator in pop-up window
If you offer configurable articles but do not yet have your own online configuration, the complete article configuration, i.e. the 3D representation of the article with all the operating elements and options for the settings, can be outsourced to a compact configuration module.
This module can then either be embedded in the website or appear separately in a pop-up window, such as the TISCHFABRIK24 table configurator shown here:
The article is completely configured by the customer in the module/popup and can then be transferred back to the regular shopping cart of the store system. Alternatively (if the store system is not designed for this or is not available), a request e-mail is generated for you, which serves as the basis for an individual calculation and further customer advice.
Configurator/viewer as a Windows or macOS application
For presentations at the point-of-sale or customer advice in the field, regular desktop applications that run on Windows and macOS operating systems can also be created from the master application (Unity3D project), from which the mobile iOS/Android apps are generated, with just a few adjustments:
Configurator/Viewer with “Looking Glass” 3D display
The Looking Glass Display iis an impressive real holographic 3D display (no 3D glasses or other aids required), it is connected to the PC in addition to the regular monitor.
The main monitor is used to operate the configurator.
The Looking Glass Display only shows the 3D view of the configured item..
